Search without warrant: Police can only search your person or property with a valid court warrant, OR if they have reasonable grounds to believe you are carrying stolen goods or illegal weapons.
Force: Police may only use minimal, proportional force. Excessive force, torture, or degrading treatment violates Section 34 of the Nigerian Constitution and the UN Convention Against Torture.
If you are stopped: Demand to see identification. You have the right to know the officer's name, badge number, and station. Document everything.
